The foundational goal of the Evensong Children’s Choir is to provide a choral experience designed to give children in Elementary and Middle School musical as well as personal growth.

Core emphasis is placed on the skills required to learn the music and perform it with concentration, dedication and artistic expression. We believe that this work ethic instills character qualities which can be applied to many other challenging situations in life providing our choristers with the confidence needed to pursue their dreams.

The Evensong Children’s Choir is an independent organization with free rehearsal space graciously provided by St. Faith’s Episcopal Church in Cutler Bay, Florida

About the Choir Director:

DR. VIRGINIA COVARRUBIAS


Dr. Virginia Covarrubias has devoted her music career to collaborative piano and music education. She is a prizewinner in several piano and chamber music competitions in Mexico and the U.S.A. Her Radio and Television broadcasts include Radio UNAM Mexico, Kansas Classical Music Radio, Miami local news NBC 6, and Canal 22 T.V Mexico.

Dr. Covarrubias holds a certificate in Effective College Instruction from the American Council of Education, and a State of Florida Educator Certificate in Music.

 

Currently, she is a full-time Music teacher at True North Classical Academy, she is the principal piano accompanist for the Miami Children’s Chorus, and the Music Director at St. Faith’s Episcopal Church. Dr. Covarrubias holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in piano performance, and a Doctoral degree in collaborative piano from the University of Miami.

Dr. Covarrubias has been nominated two times for the Grammy's Music Educator Award; she holds a certificate in effective College Instruction from the American Council of Education.

Dr. Covarrubias holds a Bachelor's degree in piano performance from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (FAM-UNAM), a Master's degree in piano performance from the Longy School of Music, and a Doctoral degree (D.M.A) in collaborative piano and chamber music from the University of Miami.

She resides in Miami with her husband and their two children.
